Receding Glacial Mountains

Logan Pass
Glacial National Park
4am wake up. Quietly packing. Dead silence. Somewhat chilly. Dark paths. Close call with horses on the road. Trying to listen to David Sedaris. Dark confessional diaries. Switching to music. Trying to read the entrance signs. St. Mary's closed to bear activity. Heading to Rising Sun. Instructions from park ranger. Waiting. No line. Ally sleeps. Watching the sun rise. Following some go-getters. Trying to find a spot. Getting back in line. More waiting. Setting up camp. A quick nap. Getting ready for the day. Driving to the visitor's center. Windy. Getting bear spray. Finding trails to do. Taking a shuttle to Logan Pass. Going-to-the-Sun Road. Fat chipmunks. Taking the long hike. Reaching the first end. Before and after glaciers. Sandwich stop. Continuing on. Brief hurt ankle. Getting past the main trail. Expansive beauty. Foggy smoke. Stopping for pictures. Carrying the backpack. Going as far as the time will allow. Heading back. Catching the last shuttle. Getting chilly. Driving back. Getting some beer. Cooking some dinner.
